Autism evaluation

Child and Family Psychiatry offers a comprehensive screening and diagnostic process in Autism. The first step includes a screening questionnaire that is done prior to the diagnostic interview. No one knows their child better than you. This questionnaire provides valuable information about growth, development, and behaviors that are essential in the diagnostic process. Information from the child’s pediatrician, school, and daycare are also helpful. The next step of the diagnostic process involves multiple evidence-based assessments performed in our clinic. The principal goal of CRT is to reduce cognitive deficits and strengthen an individual’s capacity to accept, process and manipulate information while improving their overall quality of everyday life

Testing involves a detailed evaluation of your child's development, speech and an age-appropriate evaluation of cognitive abilities that may include:

Diagnostic Interview

A comprehensive discussion to gather developmental history, behaviors, and concerns.

ADOS-2 assessment

A play-based evaluation to assess social communication and interaction skills.

Speech and language evaluation

Tests speech clarity, comprehension, and communication abilities.

IQ Testing

Measures cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, and intellectual strengths.

Consult with Medical Providers and Therapists

Collaborative assessment to ensure a well-rounded diagnosis and treatment plan.

Evaluation

We provide an interdisciplinary evaluation, utilizing evidence-based practice that allows multiple providers to spend time with both the child and family. This process provides the opportunity to offer our team the ability to provide a thorough evaluation and then offer families individualized recommendations for treatment.

Diagnosis

At the completion of the assessment, you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment to review your child's comprehensive evaluation report that includes individualized treatment recommendations, receive a diagnosis, discuss results, and address concerns.
